Experience Matthew Halls live on December 3rd
Matthew Halls is a British conductor and harpsichordist known for his interpretations of Baroque and Classical repertoire, often characterized by rhythmic vitality and a focus on historically informed performance practice. He frequently performs both as a conductor leading orchestras from the keyboard and as a solo harpsichordist. His work encompasses a broad range, from intimate chamber performances to large-scale orchestral works, with particular emphasis on composers like Bach, Handel, and Mozart.
The concert will take place within Eldborg, the main hall of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. Eldborg is renowned for its acoustics and striking architectural design. Completed in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Iceland’s revitalization following the 2008 financial crisis and quickly became a landmark building. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Batteríið Architects, its glass façade is inspired by the basalt columns found throughout Icelandic landscapes and the Northern Lights.
Eldborg itself boasts a capacity of approximately 1,800 seated patrons and features adjustable acoustics allowing it to accommodate diverse musical genres – from classical music to pop concerts.
