Eva Ollikainen, a Finnish accordionist celebrated for her interpretations of contemporary classical music and adventurous programming, will perform at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland on April 15, 2027. Ollikainen’s performances are noted for their technical precision and emotional depth, often featuring works specifically composed for her or arrangements that expand the perceived capabilities of the accordion as a concert instrument. She frequently collaborates with composers and explores interdisciplinary projects blending music with visual art and performance.
Harpa Concert Hall, opened in 2011, is a landmark building in Reykjavik and Iceland’s largest concert and conference centre. Eldborg – Main Hall, the venue for Ollikainen’s performance, is its largest space, boasting a seating capacity of approximately 1,800. Its design is inspired by basalt columns found in Icelandic nature, particularly those at Svartifoss waterfall. The hall's acoustics were meticulously designed by Artec Consultants Inc., aiming for both clarity and warmth suitable for a wide range of musical genres including orchestral performances, choral works, and solo recitals. The reflective glass facade of Harpa plays a significant role in its acoustic properties and distinctive appearance.
