Bar Avni is an Israeli-Icelandic composer and performer whose work blends electronic music with elements of classical composition, often incorporating field recordings and exploring themes of nature, memory, and place. Her soundscapes are typically described as atmospheric and emotionally resonant, drawing influence from both the minimalist tradition and ambient textures. She frequently utilizes piano and synthesizers in her performances, alongside processed vocal elements.
Harpa Concert Hall, located in Reykjavik, Iceland, officially opened in 2011. Eldborg – its Main Hall – is the largest venue within the complex, designed by Henning Larsen Architects and Batteríið Architects in collaboration with artist Olafur Eliasson. The hall’s design is notably inspired by basalt columns found in Icelandic landscapes, reflected in its geometrically patterned glass façade.
Eldborg boasts a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 and is renowned for its exceptional acoustics. It's equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system and adaptable stage configurations to accommodate a wide range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera productions, and contemporary musical events. The hall has become a significant cultural landmark for Iceland and hosts internationally acclaimed artists regularly.
