Giovanni Antonini, a highly regarded Italian conductor, harpsichordist, and scholar, will perform at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik on May 20, 2027. Antonini is known for his historically informed performances of Baroque and Classical music, prioritizing rigorous research into performance practices of earlier eras. His interpretations often emphasize clarity of texture, rhythmic vitality, and dramatic expression, frequently utilizing period instruments or historically appropriate setups with modern instruments. He founded Il Giardino Armonico in 1989, a celebrated ensemble dedicated to this approach, though he now leads other orchestras including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.

Harpa Concert Hall’s Eldborg – Main Hall is the largest venue within the building and boasts exceptional acoustics. Opened in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Iceland’s revitalization following the 2008 financial crisis and quickly became a landmark architectural achievement. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Batteríið Architects, its glass facade is inspired by basalt columns – a common geological formation in Iceland – and reflects the city's harbor and sky.
