Experience Edward Gardner live on October 8th
Edward Gardner is a British conductor known for his interpretations of British composers, particularly those of the 20th and 21st centuries, alongside a broad repertoire encompassing opera and orchestral works. His conducting style is often described as insightful and meticulous, emphasizing clarity and dramatic expression. He currently serves as Chief Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic.
The performance on October 8, 2026, will take place within Eldborg, the main hall of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. Eldborg is renowned for its acoustics, designed by Yasuhisa Toyota of Nagata Acoustics. The hall’s design incorporates a geometrically faceted glass facade inspired by basalt columns – a common Icelandic natural formation – and an interior featuring a large, adjustable acoustic canopy and retractable walls.
Opened in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Iceland’s recovery following the 2008 financial crisis and quickly became a landmark building and cultural center. Eldborg boasts a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 and is equipped to host a wide range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, conferences and other large-scale events.
