Benedikt Kristjánsson is an Icelandic composer known for his predominantly neo-romantic style, often incorporating elements of minimalism and spectral music. Harpa Concert Hall, opened in 2011, is Reykjavik’s landmark cultural building. Eldborg – the Main Hall – is its largest venue, designed by Henning Larsen Architects with acoustics meticulously crafted by Artec Consultants Inc. Its glass façade is inspired by the basalt columns found throughout Iceland’s landscape, reflecting light and offering views of the surrounding harbor and mountains. The hall’s design intentionally references the Northern Lights through its geometric structure and interplay of light.

Eldborg possesses a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 and is equipped to accommodate large orchestral performances as well as a variety of other events. The hall's acoustics are specifically tailored to enhance both orchestral sound and vocal clarity, making it a favoured location for performances demanding high fidelity audio reproduction. It regularly hosts performances by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and visiting international artists.
