Experience Tomáš Hanus live on February 4th
Tomáš Hanus is a Czech composer and pianist whose work frequently blends contemporary classical music with influences from jazz, minimalism, and electronic soundscapes. His compositions often explore textural complexity and atmospheric qualities, showcasing a distinctive harmonic language and rhythmic sensibility. He is known for both solo piano pieces and larger ensemble works, often incorporating extended techniques and improvisation.
The concert will take place at Eldborg, the main hall within Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. Harpa opened in 2011 and quickly became a landmark building and central cultural venue. Eldborg is its largest space, designed with acoustics specifically tailored for orchestral performances and large choral works. The hall’s design, by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Batteríið Architects, features a geometrically faceted glass facade inspired by Icelandic basalt columns.
Eldborg’s acoustics are achieved through adjustable elements within the hall, allowing it to be optimized for different types of performances. The seating capacity of Eldborg is approximately 1,800 people. It has hosted a wide range of international artists and ensembles since its opening, becoming renowned as a premier concert venue globally.
