Olari Elts, an Estonian composer and pianist, is known for a contemporary classical style often characterized by minimalist textures, atmospheric soundscapes, and a focus on harmonic exploration. His work frequently incorporates elements of ambient music and electronic processing alongside traditional instrumentation, creating pieces that are both introspective and subtly dynamic. He often draws inspiration from natural phenomena and philosophical concepts.

The concert will take place within Eldborg, the main hall of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. Eldborg is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, designed by Artec Consultants Inc., and its striking architectural features. Completed in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Iceland’s recovery following the 2008 financial crisis and has quickly become a landmark building.

Eldborg’s design is heavily influenced by the basalt columns found throughout Iceland’s landscape; this is reflected in its glass façade created with a double-skin structure composed of quasi-rhombic panels. The hall itself can accommodate over 1800 people and is equipped to host a wide range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, and conferences. Its adjustable acoustics allow for optimization depending on the specific event taking place.
