Daníel Bjarnason is an Icelandic composer and conductor whose musical style often blends orchestral textures with elements of electronic music and a distinctly atmospheric quality. His compositions frequently explore themes of nature, space, and the human condition, characterized by a harmonic language that is both modern and deeply rooted in Icelandic musical traditions. He frequently collaborates with visual artists and incorporates multimedia aspects into his work.

Harpa Concert Hall, located in Reykjavik, Iceland, officially opened in 2011. Eldborg – its main hall – is renowned for its acoustics and striking glass facade inspired by the basalt columns found throughout Iceland’s landscape. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Batteríið Architects, Eldborg has a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 people. The hall's design intentionally references the Northern Lights, utilizing reflective glass panels to create a dynamic interplay of light.

The hall is not only a performance space but also a significant architectural landmark representing Iceland’s cultural identity. Its construction was part of a larger urban regeneration project aimed at revitalizing Reykjavik’s harbor area. Eldborg hosts a diverse range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet and contemporary music events.
