Daníel Bjarnason is an Icelandic composer and pianist whose work frequently blends orchestral textures with electronic elements and a strong emphasis on atmosphere. His compositions often explore themes of nature, Icelandic folklore, and minimalist repetition, drawing influence from both classical and contemporary music traditions. He is known for creating immersive soundscapes and utilizing extended instrumental techniques.
The concert will take place at Eldborg, the main hall within Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. Eldborg is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, designed by the renowned firm of Artec Consultants Inc. The hall’s design is inspired by basalt columns – a common geological formation in Iceland – and features a geometrically faceted glass facade that reflects the surrounding harbor and city.
Opened in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Reykjavik’s revitalization following the 2008 financial crisis. Eldborg has a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 and hosts a wide range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, and large-scale conferences. The hall's adjustable acoustics allow it to be optimized for various types of events.
