Experience Marios Papadopoulos live on August 2nd
Marios Papadopoulos, a pianist recognised for his deeply expressive and lyrical interpretations of Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire, will perform at the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building in Oxford on August 2nd, 2026. His playing is frequently noted for its technical precision combined with a sensitive approach to phrasing and colour, often drawing comparisons to the Golden Age of piano performance. He frequently performs works by composers such as Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt, but also explores lesser-known figures.
The Jacqueline du Pré Music Building forms part of the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Music. Opened in 2009, it was designed by architects van Heyningen and Haward. The building is named in honour of Jacqueline du Pré, the celebrated cellist who studied at the Royal College of Music and achieved international fame before her battle with multiple sclerosis cut short her career.
The building’s design incorporates a central performance space – the Holywell Theatre – known for its excellent acoustics, alongside practice rooms, teaching spaces, and a music library. Its construction aimed to provide a modern facility while respecting the historic character of the surrounding university buildings.
