Makaya McCraven is a highly regarded American drummer, producer, and beatmaker known for his unique approach to jazz improvisation and sampling. His music often blends live instrumentation with meticulously edited samples of those same performances, creating layered, rhythmically complex compositions that bridge the gap between acoustic jazz and electronic music production. He frequently draws inspiration from the lineage of post-bop jazz while incorporating elements of hip-hop, house, and other contemporary genres. McCraven’s work is characterized by its organic feel despite its heavily processed nature, often described as “sonic collage.”

Stable Hall in San Antonio, Texas, originally opened in 1946 as a livestock auction barn. Throughout its history it served various purposes including a roller rink and a venue for diverse events. Recently renovated and reopened in 2023, Stable Hall now operates as a dedicated live music venue focusing on showcasing both local and nationally touring artists. The space retains much of its original architectural character – notably exposed wooden beams and a large open floor plan – creating a distinctive atmosphere for performances.
