Antje Weithaas is a German violinist internationally recognised for her interpretations of both standard repertoire and lesser-known works. Her playing is often described as possessing a distinctive clarity and intellectual depth, frequently focusing on historically informed performance practice while maintaining a contemporary expressive quality. She is known for commissioning new works and exploring diverse musical collaborations beyond the traditional classical concert format.

The performance will take place at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead, which opened in November 2023. It represents a significant investment in music provision for the North East of England, consolidating facilities previously spread across The Sage Gateshead and the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums. The Glasshouse houses two concert halls: the 1,300-seat Hall One, designed for orchestral performances, and Hall Two, a more intimate 450-seat space suitable for chamber music and recitals. The complex also includes rehearsal spaces, music education facilities and a publicly accessible archive. The building incorporates sustainable design principles and aims to be a national resource for musical creativity and learning. It is intended to host a wide range of genres, from classical to contemporary and popular music.
