John Wilson is a British conductor and orchestrator renowned for his dedication to the authentic performance of classic film scores and Broadway musicals. He leads the John Wilson Orchestra, celebrated for its precision, energy, and commitment to recreating the sound of Hollywood’s Golden Age and the mid-20th century musical theatre tradition.

The performance on May 7th, 2027, will take place at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead. This venue is a significant new cultural development for the North East of England, opening in late 2023 following a substantial redevelopment of the former Sage Gateshead complex. Designed by Michael Wilford, it houses two concert halls: a 1,300-seat auditorium and a smaller 450-seat hall. The Glasshouse aims to be a national resource for music education and performance, encompassing classical, jazz, contemporary and popular genres. It replaces the existing Sage Gateshead facilities with upgraded acoustics and accessibility features while maintaining its role as a hub for musical activity in the region.
