The Cinematic Orchestra will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on August 14, 2026. The ensemble is known for its distinctive blend of jazz, contemporary classical, and electronic music, often incorporating sampled elements and featuring richly textured arrangements. Their work frequently evokes a cinematic quality, despite being largely instrumental, and explores themes of memory, loss and urban life. Formed in 1999 by Jason Swinscoe and Stuart McCallum, the group gained prominence with albums like *Every Day* and *Ma Fleur*, collaborating with vocalists such as Fontella Bass and Patrick Watson.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure (the Kaispeicher A), it has become a landmark building in Hamburg’s HafenCity district. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the concert hall is renowned for its innovative acoustic design created by Yasuhisa Toyota. The building features a striking glass façade designed to reflect light and the surrounding harbor environment.
