Royal Northern Sinfonia, based in Gateshead, is renowned as one of the United Kingdom’s leading chamber orchestras. The ensemble typically performs a broad repertoire spanning classical periods through to contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on 20th and 21st-century music and commissioning new pieces. The concert on December 3rd, 2026 will take place at St George's Church, Tynemouth. Originally consecrated in 1888, St George’s is a significant example of Victorian Gothic architecture designed by architect A.E. Rollitt. Constructed from local sandstone, the church features notable stained glass windows and a large acoustic space which has increasingly made it a popular venue for musical performances.
