Rebekka Hartmann, a German composer and violinist, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on November 9, 2026. Her musical style is characterized by a blend of contemporary classical music with elements of improvisation and electronic soundscapes. Often incorporating extended techniques for string instruments, her compositions explore themes of nature, perception, and the interplay between acoustic and electronic textures. She frequently collaborates with visual artists and performers, resulting in multimedia concert experiences. Hartmann’s work has been commissioned by numerous orchestras and ensembles internationally.
The Elbphilharmonie, inaugurated in January 2017, is a concert hall in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Constructed atop an older warehouse building (the Kaispeicher A), its distinctive glass structure and wave-like roof have made it a landmark architectural achievement. The building houses the main concert hall, renowned for its exceptional acoustics designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, as well as the smaller Recital Hall and various other public spaces. The Elbphilharmonie was a project marked by significant cost overruns and delays during construction but has since become a major cultural hub for the city and a globally recognized venue for classical music performance.
