María Dueñas will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on March 8, 2027. Dueñas is a Spanish classical guitarist recognized for her interpretations of Romantic and contemporary repertoire, alongside transcriptions of works originally composed for other instruments. Her playing is often described as possessing both technical brilliance and emotional depth, with a particular focus on composers like Isaac Albéniz and Francisco Tárrega, while also championing modern composers.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse – the Kaispeicher A – it has quickly become a landmark architectural achievement and a major cultural venue. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its distinctive glass façade and wave-like roof are intended to evoke the image of a ship’s prow or a cresting wave.

The concert hall within, renowned for its exceptional acoustics designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, seats 2,100 people. The building also houses a smaller recital hall, the Kaistudio, as well as residential apartments and a hotel.
