Rebekka Hartmann is a German-born, London-based vocalist and composer specializing in dark jazz, avant-garde, and experimental music. Initially trained classically in voice, she gained prominence as the frontwoman for the critically acclaimed dark jazz ensemble, YEAR OF NO LIGHT, contributing haunting vocals and atmospheric textures to their albums from 2009-2017.

Hartmann launched her solo career with the 2019 debut album *Blackened Air*, released on Denovali Records, showcasing a more introspective and minimalist approach. Her compositions blend operatic vocal techniques with electronic soundscapes, field recordings, and subtle instrumentation – often piano or cello – creating a deeply immersive and emotionally resonant experience.

She’s collaborated with artists like Amenra (providing vocals on their *Mass VI* album) and explored themes of isolation, grief, and the subconscious in her work. Her second full-length album *Thresholds* (2023), again on Denovali, further solidified her unique artistic vision, receiving praise for its stark beauty and emotional depth. Hartmann frequently performs live utilizing extended vocal techniques and looping to build layered sonic environments.
