Prague Symphony Orchestra will perform at Smetana Hall within the Municipal House in Prague on April 1st, 2027. The orchestra is recognized for its interpretations of both classical and romantic repertoire, alongside a commitment to 20th and 21st-century compositions. Historically, the orchestra has maintained a strong focus on Czech musical heritage, frequently performing works by composers such as Dvořák, Smetana, and Janáček, while also showcasing international masters.

The Municipal House (Obecní dům) is a prominent example of Art Nouveau architecture in Prague, opened in 1912. Smetana Hall, the concert venue within the building, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and opulent design. It was named in honor of composer Bedřich Smetana, whose opera cycles significantly contributed to Czech national identity. The hall’s interior features decorative elements by leading Czech artists of the time – including paintings by Alphonse Mucha – and was intended to serve as a symbolic center for Czech culture during a period of national revival under Austro-Hungarian rule. Its design incorporates elements inspired by both natural forms and technological advancements prevalent during the Art Nouveau movement.
