Rafał Blechacz is a Polish classical pianist recognized internationally for his poetic interpretations and technical precision. His repertoire spans from the Baroque period to contemporary works, with a particular affinity for the music of Chopin – he was the first Polish pianist to win the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw since Krystian Zimerman in 1975. Blechacz’s playing is often described as possessing a refined sensitivity and a nuanced understanding of musical structure, avoiding overt virtuosity in favour of expressive depth.

The concert will take place at Rudolfinum, a Neo-Renaissance building in Prague, Czechia. Originally constructed to house the Czech National Museum, it was completed in 1884. While intended for museum purposes, it quickly became a significant venue for musical performances, largely due to its exceptional acoustics within Dvořák Hall.

Dvořák Hall, where Blechacz will perform, is renowned as one of Europe’s finest concert halls and has hosted performances by numerous celebrated orchestras and soloists throughout its history. The building itself holds cultural significance as a symbol of Czech national identity and played a role in key historical events including the proclamation of Czechoslovakia in 1918.
