Experience Prague Symphony Orchestra

The Prague Symphony Orchestra (Pražský symfonický orchestr, or FOK) is one of the Czech Republic’s most prestigious and versatile orchestras, renowned for its rich musical heritage and dynamic performances. Founded in 1934 by conductor Václav Talich, the orchestra quickly established itself as a leading force in Central European classical music. The acronym FOK stands for Film-Opera-Koncert, reflecting its original mission to perform film scores, operatic works, and concert repertoire.

Known for its vibrant interpretations of both classical and contemporary compositions, the Prague Symphony Orchestra has built an extensive discography that includes works by Dvořák, Smetana, Janáček, and Martinů, as well as international composers. Its style blends Czech musical traditions with modern symphonic techniques, delivering performances marked by precision, emotional depth, and expressive nuance.

Throughout its illustrious career, the orchestra has collaborated with world-renowned conductors such as Jiří Bělohlávek and Vladimir Ashkenazy and has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It also regularly participates in prominent festivals like the Prague Spring International Music Festival.
