The Prague Symphony Orchestra will perform at Smetana Hall within the Municipal House in Prague on January 27, 2027. The Municipal House (Obecní dům) is a significant Art Nouveau building constructed between 1906 and 1912, intended as a representative cultural centre for the Czech people. Smetana Hall, the concert hall within the Municipal House, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and opulent design. It was named in honour of Bedřich Smetana, a key figure of Czech national music. The hall’s interior features artwork by leading Czech artists of the time – including paintings by Alphonse Mucha – and its architectural design incorporates elements reflecting Czech national identity. It quickly became a central venue for concerts and other cultural events following its opening and continues to be highly regarded as one of Europe’s finest concert spaces.
