Classical Concerts in Gateshead

Experience Pavel Haas Quartet live on February 6th

The Pavel Haas Quartet will perform at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead, United Kingdom on February 6, 2027. The quartet is internationally renowned for its interpretations of string quartets, particularly those of Czech composers – a reflection of their namesake, Pavel Haas, a composer tragically lost during the Holocaust. Their playing is characterized by a rich, warm tone, insightful phrasing, and a deep emotional connection to the music. They frequently explore both standard repertoire works by composers like Beethoven and Dvořák alongside lesser-known 20th-century compositions.

The Glasshouse, opened in November 2023, represents a significant investment in musical performance infrastructure for the North East of England. It consolidates Sage Gateshead and The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art into a single complex. Designed by architects Michael Wilford and partners, the centre features two concert halls: a 1,300-seat auditorium with exceptional acoustics and a smaller hall suited to more intimate performances. The building aims to be environmentally sustainable and accessible to all audiences. Prior to its opening it was known as the 'Gateshead Quays' project and represents part of wider regeneration efforts within the area.
