Experience National Symphony Orchestra live on September 5th
The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) will perform at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts on September 5, 2026. The NSO, based in Washington, D.C., is renowned for its broad repertoire spanning classical music from the Baroque period through contemporary compositions. While maintaining a strong foundation in standard orchestral works by composers like Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, the orchestra frequently commissions and performs new pieces, and actively engages with diverse musical voices. The NSO is the artistic cornerstone of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Wolf Trap, established in 1971, holds the distinction of being America’s only National Park dedicated to the performing arts. Located in Vienna, Virginia, it operates as a partnership between the National Park Service and a non-profit organization. The venue features both an outdoor amphitheater – known for its lawn seating and intimate atmosphere – and smaller indoor stages. Its creation was spearheaded by Catherine Filene Shouse who envisioned a space where both established and emerging artists could perform within a natural setting accessible to a wide audience. The park hosts a variety of performances including classical music, pop, rock, dance and theatrical productions throughout its season.
