Experience National Symphony Orchestra live on August 27th
The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) will perform at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts on August 27, 2026. The NSO, based in Washington, D.C., is renowned for its broad repertoire encompassing classical orchestral works from the Baroque period through contemporary compositions. While historically rooted in traditional orchestral performance, the NSO frequently incorporates American composers and explores innovative programming, often collaborating with artists from diverse musical genres. It currently holds the position of Kennedy Center’s resident orchestra.
Wolf Trap, located in Vienna, Virginia, is the only National Park dedicated to the performing arts. Established in 1971 following a decade-long effort spearheaded by Catherine Filene Shouse, it was conceived as a way to bring accessible performing arts to a wider audience within a natural setting. The venue features both an outdoor amphitheater—the Filene Center—and a smaller indoor theater, The Barns at Wolf Trap. The Filene Center is known for its lawn seating and capacity to host large-scale performances under the stars. Wolf Trap presents a variety of performances annually including opera, classical music, pop, rock, and dance and is supported by both federal funding and private donations.
