The Glasshouse, opened in November 2023, represents a significant investment in music performance infrastructure for the North East of England. It is formed by the combination of Hall One, formerly The Sage Gateshead, and The Northern Stage. Hall One itself has a reputation for excellent acoustics and hosts a diverse range of musical genres including classical, contemporary, and world music. The venue’s creation involved substantial funding from local councils, Arts Council England, and private donations; it is intended to significantly increase cultural provision within the region.
