Experience Mark Viner live on January 17th
Mark Viner is a British composer and pianist known for his primarily minimalist and ambient-influenced compositions, often incorporating elements of post-rock and neo-classical music. His work frequently features extended piano pieces, atmospheric textures, and a focus on harmonic resonance. Viner’s compositions are typically instrumental, aiming to evoke emotional landscapes through sound. He has released several albums to critical acclaim and performs internationally.
The concert will take place at the Ts Eliot Theatre, located within Merton College, Oxford. The theatre is situated in the Old Quadrangle of the college, originally constructed between 1247 and 1377. The space itself was converted into a theatre in 1968, named in honour of T.S. Eliot, who was an undergraduate at Merton College from 1909 to 1910.
The Ts Eliot Theatre is a modestly sized venue known for its intimate atmosphere and historical setting. It is regularly used for dramatic performances, lectures, film screenings and musical events by both the college community and external groups. Acoustically, it's considered suitable for chamber music and solo instrumental performances due to its relatively dry acoustics stemming from its stone construction and moderate size.
