The Mahler Chamber Orchestra will perform at Musiikkitalo in Helsinki, Finland on October 14, 2026. Known for its flexible instrumentation and historically informed performance practice, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra typically focuses on repertoire spanning the Baroque to contemporary periods, with a particular strength in the works of Gustav Mahler – despite its name, it performs a broad range of composers. Founded in 1997 by Claudio Abbado and Bernard Labadie, it operates without a dedicated concertmaster or principal conductor, encouraging collaborative leadership.

Musiikkitalo (Helsinki Music Centre) opened in 2011 and is Finland’s leading concert hall. Designed by LPR Architects, the building houses two concert halls: the larger Concert Hall seating 1,790 people and the smaller Paavo Berglund Hall accommodating around 500. It’s notable for its acoustics, specifically engineered to provide optimal sound for both orchestral and chamber music performances.
