Experience Czech Philharmonic live on August 28th
The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform at Musiikkitalo in Helsinki, Finland on August 28, 2026. The Czech Philharmonic, founded in 1891, boasts a historically rich sound often characterized by a warm string tone and a robust brass section. Throughout its history, the orchestra has been closely linked with prominent Czech composers like Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, and Leoš Janáček, frequently performing and recording their works. While maintaining a strong commitment to the Central European repertoire, the orchestra also regularly performs music from across classical and contemporary periods.
Musiikkitalo, Helsinki’s concert hall, opened in 1972 and is renowned for its acoustics. Designed by architect Erkki Sarkinen, it's considered a prime example of functionalist architecture with significant emphasis placed on achieving optimal sound quality for both performers and audience members. The main concert hall accommodates over 1,400 listeners and features adjustable acoustic elements allowing for customization based on the performance type – orchestral, chamber music or amplified events. Musiikkitalo serves as the home venue for the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts numerous international ensembles annually.
