Experience Kathryn Stott live on July 27th
Kathryn Stott is a British pianist renowned for her lyrical and sensitive interpretations, particularly of Romantic and 20th-century repertoire. Her playing is often described as possessing a warm tone and a refined touch, frequently focusing on composers like Chopin, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff, alongside contemporary works. She is also known for her chamber music collaborations with various instrumentalists.
The concert will take place at the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building in Oxford. Opened in 2009, the building serves as the home for the University of Oxford’s Music Faculty. It’s named in honour of Jacqueline du Pré (1945-1987), the celebrated cellist who studied at the university and achieved international acclaim before her tragically early retirement due to multiple sclerosis.
The building itself was designed by architects van Heyningen and Haward, incorporating both new construction and the renovation of existing structures including a former Victorian laboratory. A key feature is its main performance space, a flexible concert hall designed to accommodate a wide range of musical events. The design prioritises acoustic excellence while also integrating seamlessly into the surrounding historic university landscape.
