Classical Concerts in Hamburg

Experience Kansas City Symphony live on August 29th

Kansas City Symphony, established in 1900, is a fully professional orchestra known for its diverse repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, pops programming, and educational outreach. The ensemble frequently commissions new works and has a history of recordings featuring American composers. Their performances are characterized by a commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement within the Kansas City metropolitan area and beyond.

The concert on August 29, 2026, will take place at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany. Opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, the Elbphilharmonie is a landmark concert hall built atop an historic warehouse (Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district. Its design, by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, combines traditional concert hall acoustics with modern architectural elements including a glass facade constructed from over 1,000 curved glass panels.

The Grand Hall (“Großer Saal”) within the Elbphilharmonie is renowned for its “vineyard” terraced seating arrangement designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, intended to create a closer connection between audience and performers.
