Jess Gillam, a British saxophonist noted for her dynamic performances and commitment to contemporary classical music alongside jazz and crossover repertoire, will perform at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead on July 25th, 2026. Gillam rose to prominence as the youngest ever woodwind finalist in the BBC Young Musician competition in 2016 and has since established a significant solo career, commissioning new works and championing diverse musical voices. Her performances often blend technical skill with an engaging stage presence.

The Glasshouse, officially opened in November 2023, represents a significant investment in music performance infrastructure for the North East of England. It is formed from the renovation and combination of the former Sage Gateshead and the Newcastle City Hall. The complex houses two major concert halls: Sage Concert Hall (approximately 1,648 seats) and Newcastle Hall (approximately 850 seats), alongside smaller spaces for rehearsal, education and community engagement. The project aimed to address limitations of existing facilities and establish a national resource for musical excellence, accessibility and learning. It hosts a wide range of genres including classical, contemporary, jazz, folk and popular music.
