Il Giardino Armonico, an Italian period instrument ensemble founded in 1989, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on August 26, 2026. The group is renowned for its historically informed performances of Baroque and early Classical music, characterized by vibrant energy, expressive phrasing, and a focus on rediscovering the original sound world of composers like Vivaldi, Monteverdi, and Handel. Their interpretations often emphasize dramatic contrasts and a playful approach to ornamentation.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction atop a historic warehouse in the HafenCity district. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the building is notable for its striking glass facade constructed above the *Kaispeicher A* brick warehouse. It houses a major concert hall with seating for 2,100 people, as well as smaller halls and residential apartments. The acoustics of the Grand Hall were designed by Yasuhisa Toyota and are considered among the best in the world. The building quickly became a landmark for Hamburg and a significant cultural venue internationally, attracting audiences with both its architectural innovation and high-quality musical programming.
