Experience Elisabeth Brauß live on November 24th
Elisabeth Brauß will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on November 24, 2026. Brauß is a German composer and pianist known for her contemporary classical music, often characterized by minimalist structures, explorations of timbre and resonance, and a focus on the relationship between sound and space. Her compositions frequently incorporate extended techniques for piano and other instruments, creating atmospheric and subtly shifting soundscapes. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Siemens Composition Prize and the Paul Hindemith Prize.
The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an historic warehouse – the Kaispeicher A – in Hamburg’s HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark architectural achievement. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its distinctive glass structure is intended to reflect the city’s maritime character. The concert hall within is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through the “White Skin” interior design by Yasuhisa Toyota, utilizing custom-made gypsum fiber panels. The building houses not only the main concert hall but also a smaller recital hall and residential apartments.
