Cupertinos is scheduled to perform at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Estrela in Marvão, Portugal on July 25, 2026. The musical project, led by Rui Teixeira, blends Portuguese folk music traditions – particularly those of Alentejo – with contemporary electronic and experimental soundscapes. Their compositions often feature polyphonic vocals, traditional instruments like the cavaquinho and concertina, alongside synthesized elements and manipulated field recordings, creating a distinctive and atmospheric sound.

Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Estrela is a baroque-style church located in the historic hilltop village of Marvão. Constructed during the 18th century (specifically between 1704 and 1715), it’s noted for its relatively simple exterior which contrasts with its richly decorated interior. The church replaced an earlier chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Star, and served as a parish church until the early 20th century. Architectural features include elaborate gilded woodcarving (talha dourada) adorning the altar and side chapels, typical of Portuguese Baroque religious art. The building’s location within the fortified village contributes to its historical significance and provides a unique acoustic environment.
