Kölner Domchor, the cathedral choir of Cologne, Germany, will perform at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Estrela in Marvão, Portugal on July 28, 2026. The choir boasts a tradition spanning over seven centuries, originally founded in 1260. Their repertoire is deeply rooted in sacred music, encompassing Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, Baroque masterpieces and works from the Classical and Romantic periods, alongside contemporary compositions. Kölner Domchor is known for its precise vocal technique and rich harmonic blend characteristic of the German choral tradition.

Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Estrela is a baroque-style church located in the historic hilltop village of Marvão. Construction began in 1753 and was completed in 1764, designed by Portuguese architect João Batista da Silva. The church is notable for its distinctive star-shaped floor plan – a rarity in Portuguese religious architecture – which gives it its name ("Our Lady of the Star"). Its interior features elaborate gilded carvings (talha dourada) typical of the late Baroque period and azulejo tilework.
