The New Theatre Oxford opened in 1934 as a successor to the Prince of Wales’s Theatre, which had been destroyed by fire. Designed in an Art Deco style by Ernest Prestwich, it quickly became a prominent venue for touring theatrical productions and musical performances. Throughout its history, the theatre has hosted a diverse array of performers including actors, musicians, dancers and comedians. It underwent significant refurbishment in 2017 enhancing its facilities while retaining many of its original architectural features. The theatre is currently operated by ATG (Ambassador Theatre Group), one of the largest theatre groups in the UK.
