The Glasshouse, opened in November 2023, represents a significant investment in the cultural landscape of the North East of England. It consolidates the Sage Gateshead and The Baltic Centre into a single, architecturally striking venue on the Gateshead Quays. Designed by David Adjaye, the building features two concert halls: a 1,300-seat main hall with exceptional acoustics and a more intimate 450-seat hall. The complex also includes rehearsal spaces, music education facilities, and public areas intended to foster community engagement with music. It aims to be a national resource for musical performance and learning, hosting a diverse range of genres from classical to contemporary.
