Tianyi Lu, a contemporary classical composer and pianist known for works blending minimalist aesthetics with influences from post-romanticism and spectral music, will perform at Laeiszhalle’s Großer Saal in Hamburg on February 21, 2027. Her compositions often explore textural soundscapes and utilize extended piano techniques, creating immersive and emotionally resonant experiences. She frequently incorporates elements of silence and subtle harmonic shifts within her pieces.

Laeiszhalle, inaugurated in 1908, is Hamburg’s primary concert hall and a significant landmark in the city's cultural landscape. The Großer Saal (Great Hall) is its largest and most prestigious venue, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by architect Hermann Muthesius, the hall features a traditional “shoebox” shape favored for orchestral music due to its natural reverberation properties. Throughout its history, the Großer Saal has hosted performances by numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras, conductors, and soloists. It underwent extensive renovation between 2017 and 2023 to modernize facilities while preserving its historical character and acoustic integrity. The hall’s seating capacity is approximately 2,183.
