The Washington Chorus is a renowned choral ensemble known for its diverse repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and multicultural works. Lisner Auditorium, located on the campus of George Washington University, opened in 1971. Designed by architect Harry Weese, the auditorium is characterized by its Brutalist architectural style featuring exposed concrete and a distinctive fan-shaped seating arrangement accommodating approximately 1,400 patrons. It has hosted a wide array of performances including concerts, lectures, theatrical productions and dance recitals. Over the years it has become a significant venue for arts and cultural events in the nation’s capital and is regularly used by university departments as well as external organizations for public events. The auditorium underwent renovations in 2018 to improve accessibility and enhance the audience experience.
