The Smetana Trio is scheduled to perform at Rudolfinum in Prague, Czechia on January 18, 2027. The ensemble, formed in 1935, is renowned for its interpretations of chamber music, particularly works from the Czech repertoire alongside composers of the broader European tradition. Their style is characterized by a lyrical approach, technical precision, and a deep understanding of phrasing and tonal color. Throughout their history, the Trio has undergone personnel changes but consistently maintained a commitment to the highest standards of performance. They frequently perform works by Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana – after whom they are named – and Leoš Janáček, alongside compositions by Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert.

Rudolfinum is a Neo-Renaissance building completed in 1884 and serves as one of Prague’s premier cultural venues. Originally intended to house the Czech Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts, it quickly became a significant center for musical performances. Its main concert hall, Dvořák Hall, boasts exceptional acoustics and is frequently used for orchestral concerts, chamber music recitals and other large-scale events. The building also houses exhibition spaces showcasing both historical and contemporary art.
