Shabaka, the British jazz saxophonist and composer, will perform at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on November 10, 2026. Shabaka’s music defies easy categorization, but is generally described as a contemporary exploration of jazz, often incorporating elements of Afrobeat, electronic music, and spiritual jazz. He is known for his work with groups such as Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming, and Shabaka Hutchings Quintet, frequently addressing themes of identity, spirituality and social commentary within his compositions. His playing is characterized by a powerful tone and improvisational skill.

Brudenell Social Club is a well-known independent venue in Hyde Park, Leeds. Originally a working men’s club established in 1913, it transitioned to its current format focusing on live music and events in the late 1980s. The venue is divided into three spaces: the main room – a former ballroom – known for hosting both established and emerging artists; a smaller ‘Basement’ space; and an outside terrace area. It has gained a reputation for its intimate atmosphere and support of diverse musical genres including indie rock, alternative, folk and jazz.
