Shez Raja is a British-Asian musician known for his innovative fusion of jazz, funk, and Indian classical music. Originally opened in 1865 as the Leeds Music Hall, it was designed by architect George Corsar and quickly became a popular entertainment destination. The hall transitioned through various formats – initially as a large concert hall, then as a variety theatre showcasing music hall acts, comedians, and circuses – earning its enduring nickname “The Good Old Variety”.

Restored in 1988 after a period of decline, City Varieties Music Hall now operates as a fully restored Victorian music hall and is one of the most intimate and best-preserved venues of its kind in the UK.
