Seong-Jin Cho will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on April 14, 2027. Cho is a South Korean classical pianist recognized for his poetic and nuanced interpretations, often characterized by a delicate touch and a deeply considered approach to phrasing. He gained international acclaim after winning the First Prize at the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition. His repertoire spans a wide range of composers, though he is particularly celebrated for his performances of Chopin and Debussy.

The Elbphilharmonie, inaugurated in January 2017, is a concert hall situated in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Constructed atop an existing warehouse known as the Kaispeicher A, its design by Herzog & de Meuron incorporates glass facade construction creating a distinctive wave-like appearance. The building houses the main concert hall with seating for 2,100 people, a smaller Recital Hall, and residential apartments. Acoustically, the Elbphilharmonie is renowned for its “White Skin” room – a deliberately irregular shape designed by Yasuhisa Toyota to provide optimal sound diffusion.
