Experience Seong-Jin Cho live on November 9th
Seong-Jin Cho, the South Korean classical pianist who rose to international prominence after winning the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on November 9, 2026. Cho is recognized for his poetic and nuanced interpretations, often characterized by a delicate touch, refined pedaling, and a deep understanding of musical structure. While possessing a broad repertoire, he is particularly celebrated for his performances of Chopin and frequently explores composers from the Romantic era. His playing style emphasizes clarity and emotional depth over overt virtuosity.
The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse – the Kaispeicher A – it has quickly become a landmark architectural achievement and one of Europe’s most renowned concert halls. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its distinctive glass façade and wave-like roof are instantly recognizable. The building's acoustics were designed by Yasuhisa Toyota, aiming for a “white canvas” sound allowing for natural reverberation and clarity.
