Experience Seattle Symphony live on December 9th
Seattle Symphony is recognized for its dynamic and versatile performances, encompassing a broad repertoire from standard orchestral works to contemporary compositions and innovative multimedia presentations. The orchestra frequently commissions new pieces and actively engages with the local arts community. Founded in 1909, it has a history of artistic leadership and a commitment to musical excellence, currently under the direction of Music Director Thomas Wilkins.
The concert on December 9, 2026, will be held at Taper Auditorium in Seattle. Originally known as the Seattle Center Theatre, Taper Auditorium underwent significant renovations and was renamed in honor of Ben Taper, a prominent Seattle businessman and philanthropist, in 1985. The auditorium is located within the Seattle Center complex, originally built for the 1962 World’s Fair.
Taper Auditorium is a mid-sized venue designed primarily for performing arts events; its acoustics have been continually refined over the years to support orchestral performances. It serves as an alternative performance space for Seattle Symphony, allowing for more intimate concert experiences compared to Benaroya Hall, their primary home. The auditorium’s flexible configuration allows for varied staging possibilities accommodating diverse programming choices.
