Seattle Symphony, performing at Benaroya Hall on April 13, 2027, is recognized for its commitment to presenting a diverse repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, and innovative programming. The orchestra frequently commissions new works and collaborates with leading artists across multiple genres, demonstrating a stylistic range that extends beyond traditional orchestral performance. Founded in 1909, the ensemble has cultivated a reputation for artistic excellence and community engagement.
Benaroya Hall, the permanent home of Seattle Symphony since 1998, is architecturally notable for its acoustics and design. The hall was conceived as a central component of Seattle’s cultural revitalization efforts in the late 20th century. Designed by LMN Architects and acoustician Russell Johnson, its defining feature is the Grand Lobby – a soaring glass-enclosed space intended to foster public interaction with the arts. The hall’s S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium is specifically engineered for optimal sound projection and clarity, accommodating over 2,700 patrons. Construction involved significant private fundraising alongside public funding and represents a substantial investment in Seattle's performing arts infrastructure. It frequently hosts other performances beyond the Symphony’s schedule including Broadway shows and popular music acts.
