Experience Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg live on September 27th
The Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, one of Germany’s leading orchestras, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on September 27, 2026. The orchestra has a long tradition of performing a broad repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular emphasis on German Romantic composers like Brahms and Mahler. Known for its rich sound and precision, the orchestra frequently collaborates with internationally renowned soloists and conductors.
The Elbphilharmonie itself is a landmark concert hall situated in Hamburg's HafenCity district. Completed in 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, it stands atop an old warehouse building (the Kaispeicher A) and is notable for its distinctive glass facade and wave-like roof structure. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the hall was conceived to provide exceptional acoustics. Its Grand Hall, seating approximately 2,100 people, features vineyard-style seating encircling the stage – an intentional design choice to enhance intimacy between performers and audience. The building also incorporates a hotel, residential apartments, and public viewing platforms offering panoramic city views.
