The Philharmonia Orchestra will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on September 14, 2026. The Philharmonia Orchestra is a British orchestra renowned for its versatility and commitment to both standard repertoire and contemporary music. Founded in 1944 by Walter Legge, it quickly established a reputation for high recording standards and a distinctive sound characterized by clarity and precision. The Elbphilharmonie itself is a landmark concert hall situated in Hamburg’s HafenCity district. Opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, it stands atop an old warehouse building (the Kaispeicher A). Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the building’s striking glass facade and wave-like roof are iconic features. The concert hall within is notable for its “vineyard” terraced seating arrangement surrounding the stage, designed to provide every seat with good views and acoustics.
